Tomek Kowalski
art and design
My name is Tomek. I am a German-Polish independent artist, poet, and designer.
For many years now, I have been working with arts in versatile ways: poetry, painting, sculpture, design, fashion, dance, and martial arts.
In my artistic search, I follow two main principles: I work with what is readily available and the result should surprise me. That’s why I experiment a lot with found and invented combinations of materials, also in the context of recycling and upcycling. In that, I am fascinated by the wabi-sabi aesthetics.
I work in multidisciplinary way, with various materials and expression forms. The medium that fascinates me the most, and that accompanies me in my artistic search, is concrete – especially in connection with oxidation processes. Through this unique combination of materials, I realise my search for forms which can express natural transformation processes through arts.
